Henry, you are a bad influence…

…or maybe a good influence. I suppose I won’t really know until the end of November.

Having seen my dear friend Henry’s post over here I have decided to join him in the madness of NaNoWriMo. That’s National Novel Writing Month for short. Essentially the goal is to write a 50,000 word (roughly 175 page) novel within the month of November. The idea being that the writer is liberated of any obligation to the quality of their work in the dash to reach the final word count before midnight on the 30th.

I have no idea whether or not I can finish this, but it’s just such a novel (oh Lord) that I have to at least give it a try. For those interested in following along with my progress you can view my profile by clicking the link to the right.

  1. Oh hell yeah. Let the madness begin.

  2. [...] I see that one amongst you has the courage to join me in my fool’s crusade. My friend Joel has snatched up the writing gauntlet cast down by the Gods of lengthy prose and is preparing himself for our Herculean task even as I blog. Are there any other brave souls willing to accompany us as we march forward on the path towards literary immortality? [...]

  3. How goes the novel planning? I’m totally curious to see what you come up with.

    cheers,
    mel

  4. I see 0 words. god you suck. and happy anniversary

  5. Nov 17 and no words …

  6. Did you mean … this November?

  7. Joel said he wouldn’t know until “the end of November”, which clearly means Joel has until November meets its catastrophic demise.

You watch, Joel will have produced a novel before November is removed from the Gregorian calendar.

  8. My bad. I was being way too literal with this literary exercise. So…some time just before time ends. I understand now.

  9. Hi all!

    G’night
